A Mid-Century Modern Home Restored
The architectural design of this home was truly beautiful; however the kitchen was due for an update. The original sink and backsplash tile were turquoise - authentic to the time period but out of style.
This couple wanted their kitchen to reflect the architectural integrity of the home, yet still have a modern flair and compliment their collection of eclectic art. To accomplish their design goals, we used kitchen cabinets in a combination of finishes: Simple slab doors made of rift cut oak in Espresso for the bases, and Frost paint on maple for the uppers - some with aluminum-framed glass doors. The countertops are Silestone in Dali, chosen to add a whimsical nod to the atomic age.
The end result is a modern kitchen with a retro feel that will be stylish for decades to come.
