1940's Original Lakewood Kitchen Remodeled
Built in 1941, this small Lakewood home has nearly doubled in size over several years to accommodate a family of four. The kitchen was one of the few rooms that was in the "original" condition. Separated from the rest of the home, the Kitchen was opened up by removing a wall
and replacing with a functional island which included space for casual dining.
To address the constraints of limited wall space, one of the two windows was raised to accommodate the new continuous countertops.
And the icing on the cake, is the dramatic inclusion of the Homeowners artistic work. Fran, a glass artist, designed and made the fused glass tiles incorporated into the back splash above the range top. Original art is the element that really draws the house together, since every space includes personal expression by all of the family members.
